What is BOSI? BOSI is the Blueorange System Interface. The current version is 3.0. BOSI is Blueorange's own technology built in the leading-edge object-orientated programming language, Python. We developed BOSI to dramatically reduce the time it takes to prototype, build, maintain and enhance web applications of any size. The ideal for any business or organisation is to have complete control over the way their software application looks and works. All BOSI products, like our web content management system or e-Learning environment, are based on 'builders'. Builders effectively allow even non-technical users to create and administer their business solution by themselves. BOSI is the 'builder of builders'. BOSI is our own web-development platform. It has been written in the Python programming language and uses ZOPE as the base web-application server. Blueorange are amongst Europe's leading pioneers of Zope and Python technology.
Python is one of a 'new-generation' of object orientated programming and scripting languages. It is the language BOSI has been developed in. Python's distinct advantages have made it the obvious choice to power many well known web-technologies including Infoseek and Google. It is also the language of choice for hardware manufacturers including HP, IBM and Nokia (for developing smartphone software).
Zope is a powerful web-application server and code management system written in Python. Zope is an opensource CMS widely used in the United States by major corporations, government agencies and universities due to the benefits it offers in cost, development speed and performance.
Blueorange chose Zope and Python on which to build BOSI in 2002 after extensive analysis of current platforms and languages. We made this key choice, over .NET or JAVA plaforms, despite a relatively small number of Zope/Python experts working outside of the US or large consultancies. We have grown to become one of the leading Zope developers in the EU.
